Announcement: new Mistral SUP team
Mistral Red Dot Division is proud to announce to have contracted top athletes in the Stand Up Paddle disciplines of Wave and Race. Mistral is currently well on the way paving it’s name in the world of SUP. The new SUP line is getting a lot of attention as it is a very efficient and easy selectable line of boards in Allround, Wave, Crossover and Race discipline. Our riders bring out Mistral’s efforts and dedication to the action water sports and our passion for SUP.
Robin Johnston – Wave SUP
Hawaiian Robin Johnston is a renowned shaper from Oahu and already many years active in wave surfing, he started to surf at age 5 and was taught by his mother on the waves of Oahu. In his youth Robin was many years short board champion and participated on the Pro/Am and WQS Surf Circuit. Robin started shaping SUP boards and took it up as a sport himself. His SUP shapes are used by 5 of the Top 6 riders from the SUP World Tour.
Robin himself followed his boards and he participated in the 2010 SUP World Tour and became 4th overall! This years’ first event at Sunset Beach, Robin became 2nd, at 0.1 difference only of winning it. Robin just ended in Top 5 at the 2nd event in La Torche, France where an unfortunate set of waves prevented him going to finals. This motivates Robin even more for next event end of May in Tahiti! We welcome Robin in the Team Mistral and wish him all the best in his efforts in Wave SUP on the World Tour in 2011!
Gaétan Séné - Race/Long Distance SUP
Coming from the Brittany coast in France, Gaétan is already many years active in various water sports. From ocean kayaking to stand up paddling on traditional Polynesian wooden paddle boards.
After becoming French Champion in 2009 in ocean kayaking, he also took up Stand Up Paddling. Being strong in racing , Gaétan specialized in the race discipline and for 2010 participated in international events, becoming 4th in the Jever SUP World Cup in Hamburg and is the winner of the 2010 Naish SUP Tour in France!Gaétan has now decided to join Team Mistral and is eager to continue and grow his success further in the international SUP events on the fast Mistral M1 Race boards. We are happy to have this promoter of the sport in our Team and wish him good luck on his quest for victories in Race and Long Distance SUP!
