Fins
Even the best board will have no real performance without an appropriate fin. This affects the performance characteristics of the board in three key ways:
1) Early planing
2) Top end speed
3) Maneuvrability
Naturally, we accept no compromises. For this reason we have worked successfully with Kai Hopf for a long time. The Australian born big wave surfer, World Cupper, sail and fin designer works from his chosen home on Maui where his fins have for years been the secret weapons of Maui's windsurfing elite.
Wave (including Twin fins)
The bump in the thickness fl ow towards the tip is a unique feature specially designed for Mistral. When you move from the fin tip to the middle of the fin, the chord gets narrower; in other words, the thickness is reduced. Having a thicker and stiffer tip forces the flex of the fin into the mid section. This allows the fin to store its energy as it twists around its mid section.
Wave-Freestyle
The wave-freestyle fins are a blend of the freestyle and wave fin. They too have the ability to store the power as you turn, but with the added ability to cope with you really stomping on it (heavy back foot sailing).
Freestyle
For the freestyle fin, the wave fin principles still apply but the fin has more forward drive to get the rider planing as quickly as possible.
Freemove
As can be seen from the extra curvature and the tip of the fin, the freemove foil shapes sit in between the manoeuvre orientated wave fins and the more speed biased freeride fins. This gives the ideal combination of maximum holding power and pure manoeuvrability.
Freeride
These fins are based on the race fins, but with added rake and curvature to give better handling, and foiled to give more bottom end power. You can clearly see this when you compare their leading edges to those of the race fins.
Slalom & Race
These fins have been developed in conjunction the top racers in the world on the PWA Race courses, and are designed simply for pure high speed racing - however fast you want to go, these fi ns will always be good for more.
