“Windsurfing today is a great sport. I love it and have done so for the past 30 years. I compete less nowadays, but enjoy free sailing a lot more. Coming from the PWA world tour to now being the head of a brand like Mistral is great. It’s an amazing situation to be in, to be able to drive the focus of such a brand in the direction of what guys like me really like, “killer boards” that enables us to do what we want, be it in waves or on flat water. To work closely with the team and to be able to get their direct input for the future designs as well as to work with the likes of Cesare Cantagalli and Gianni Valdambrini (ACME Designs) on the shapes is a great honour for me. They are really good, and like me, they have been around for a long time and know their trade. It is a great feeling knowing that we have a strong design team as well as a truly rider-based company working for us in that department. As far as being a pro rider, for me, I enjoy the racing and if I don’t do too well, the boss is as guilty as I am so he does not complain too much!”
