Continuing with the unfolding excitement and story of the reinstatement of the original Windsurfer® that is now the Windsurfer LT, there has been overwhelming interest and a record number of enquiries regarding our branded Mistral Windsurfer LT since we announced our involvement this past week. This complete board package, addresses the declining number of windsurfing participants worldwide, being as it was the board that started it all being versatile for low wind recreational learning, freestyle and one-design racing. Mistral’s full support of this initiative has led us to support in the very early stages of participants at the recent European event held in Hoorn in the Netherlands, just last weekend.
They included young gun, Luca Schmitz who managed several podium finishes, taking out the overall Long Distance Title whilst simultaneously winning the Medium Weight and Youth Divisions and in addition in the Course Racing, finished 3rd overall in the Medium Weight Class, 2nd in the Youth Division and 2nd Overall. Also representing Mistral, Edwin Hasslover whose parents once operated and owned a Mistral Windsurfing School in the 1980s, finished 2nd in his Division in the Dutch Championship and 4th in the Medium Heavy Division. Paul Meester, a former Mistral Team Member also had a successful weekend’s racing. We’re very excited to be involved at grass roots level involvement which this board offers and loving the energy and interest it is creating – 2020 will prove to be an interesting year of rapid expansion for the sport we believe.
