For 2020, the Vanquish features new improved underwater shape, including greater concave to reduce drag and with an increase in rocker and nose volume, for improved handling. We’ve moved the fin further aft to improve directionally stability of this race winning ocean board while also improving its flat water capabilities.
The Vanquish is a board that caters for a wide range of conditions. It is stable and forgiving and happy chasing bumps, pushing upwind and taking on rough waters, but equally happy grinding out the miles calmer waters. Testing in South African waters has proven it to be an excellent board choice for rough and more demanding waters. The design feature of this board which stands out from our other designs, is that we keep the side rails reasonably parallel for as long as possible before pinching in at the bow, while the tail is a square cut, to ensure volume for step-back turns. The nose has good volume, bullet shaped with rounded sides to avoid ‘tripping’ and there’s a good degree of roundedness in the underside up front to keep the board moving along nicely in calmer waters while being able to latch on to bumps readily. We’ve also not overdone the rocker curvature so as to take advantage of the water line length. A clean uncluttered deck, permits high levels of paddler movements having the advantages over the stand inside decking which swamps during entry and exit from beach breaks. The flatter deck area makes remounting easy after a fall which is critical in any race or rough water situation.
