ADVISORY INFLATABLE BOARDS ARE NOT MAINTENANCE-FREE Inflatable boards offer unique and obvious benefits to the end-user because of ease of inflation and deflation and their fold-away nature contained within a travel bag, so travelling the world or to your local waterway is an accepted part of their universal appeal. Failure to follow folding and storage procedures, in particular, can result in accelerated degradation of seams and of the materials in general. They are neither indestructible nor immune to degradation through poor folding and storage techniques, excessive inflation or inappropriate use. LIMITED WARRANTY DETAILS We guarantee our products are free of defects or damage caused by workmanship or materials for 24 months after purchase. This warranty commitment does not cover any other claim conditions in relation to damage or defects associated directly or indirectly as a result of the following: • wear and tear arising from both normal and casual use • extremes of weather or environmental conditions • cleaning with any liquid other than cool, fresh water • temperatures > 40 and < 2 degrees centigrade • prolonged storage in temperatures >30 and < 2 degrees centigrade • while in possession of a freight carrier, including air transportation • as a result of loading, unloading or dropping by any party • as a result of over-tightening on a car or rack systems • by accident, neglect, improper use or handling • being towed by any additional means • use for any activity other than its intended purpose or limits of design • structural or dimensional modifications • repairs made by any third party other than Mistral • storage of inflatable boards within a bag when wet, damp or humid. • incorrect folding-over of fin boxes • collision with any object stationary or moving • jumping directly onto a board from an elevated height • random acts of aggressive or unreasonable behaviour during the use of the product • storage of the product in either damp, dark, ventilation-free areas • use of non-standard fins larger than specified • use of the item after a claim is lodged where additional damage occurs • colour fading or variations as a result of UV influences • failure to fresh-water rinse equipment after each use • saltwater crystallisation resulting in fading, deterioration or failure of materials • failure to make dry the product before storage • failure to follow instructions of use supplied with the product or at the website • failure to follow the guidance of handling and use by your retailer • use of excessive force, including over-tightening, pushing or twisting • dragging of product over abrasive or sharp surfaces • use of board or paddle by a person of a mass, exceeding design and material limits • loan of the product by the owner for any commercial purpose • use of products where use is not intended • use in excessive winds where impact damage may be likely • breakages/damage which occur in the surf or rapid rivers are not covered • over-inflation of boards beyond 18psi • over-tensioning of outhauls or in-hauls • folding of the inflatables along the fin box seam, causing deformation USEAGE Mistral inflatable boards use advanced inflatable technology. The materials are designed and chosen to balance durability, rigidity at optimum inflation pounds per square inch (PSI), lightness of weight and performance. This is not indestructible and must be treated with the usual respect afforded any water sports apparatus. It must be used, handled, stored, treated and considered with due consideration. Avoid contact with sharp edges, rocks, barnacles, oysters and other objects that may cause undue stress, damage and/or material penetration. Do not drag over hard and abrasive surfaces. Do not jump onto the board when it is ashore. Use within the defined description of use. INFLATION / DELATION PROCESS Assembly Instructions Mistral inflatables are supplied with a low-pressure hand pump, hose, pressure gauge, repair kit, valve spanner, and sturdy backpack. In addition, fins may either be slide-in or screw fit (US Box) type. DO NOT USE AN AIR COMPRESSOR. This may result in damage to the board and will void all warranties. If you leave your board exposed to the hot sun, check the pressure and deflate to the required pressure. Failure to do so may cause stressing of material. Ambient temperature affects the tube’s internal pressure; a variation of 1°C / 1.8°F causes a variation in the tube of +/- 4 mbar (0.06psi). For Example, (in direct sunlight) At 25°C / 77°F expect an increase of 1.62psi At 35°C / 95°F expect an increase of 2.1psi At 45°C / 113°F expect an increase of 2.7psi Therefore inflate to account for additional air expansion within the chamber due to increased pressure due to heat build-up. Therefore inflate to 16psi max if direct sunlight temperature is nearing 35°C / 95°F, for example. PREPARATION Remove the board valve cap Ensure the valve is UP Screw-fit tube to OUT on pump Ensure no sand on valves Push and twist-fit hose into board valve INFLATION Set valve to DOUBLE ACTION Upward + downward action inflates Ensure pump feet vee toward you Place either foot on the foot stand Commence inflation When resistance increases Set valve to SINGLE ACTION Downward-only action inflates Continue inflation Inflate to indicator guide. Push and twist to remove the hose Twist-fit valve cap into the board DEFLATION Twist and remove the valve cap Push valve downward Twist and lockdown AFTER USE Rinse with fresh water. Wipe or air dry before putting folding and storage. Failure to do so can result in mildew forming on the outer skin and may shorten the longevity of your board. Ensure there is no sand or gravel between the folds. STORAGE AT LOW PSI The ideal way to store your inflatable board, is to inflate / deflate it to a low PSI (just past the point of becoming semi-rigid) and cover / store in a dry, shaded, well ventilated (low humidity) area, on a rack system, top side up. Suspending your inflatable is not recommended ie with ropes. Ensure it is FREE of SALT WATER. Salt water crystals will retain moisture. STORAGE WITHIN BAG AND FOLDING YOUR INFLATABLE BOARD Folding your deflated board, requires some care and attention especially in respect of the fin area. Avoid folding along the extreme edge of the fin box. This will cause undue stress and can result in deformation of the fin box. Fold toward the valve, pushing the folds down to expel the air. Leave valve open when storing. Excessive humidity, can cause leaching-out of UV protective oils from the PVC material, which can lead to separation of the ‘bond’ between the seams. Failure to store your inflatable SUP accordingly, can result in mould and or seam failure and in general, accelerated degredation and will void future warranty claims. CLEANING Rinse with fresh water and dry thoroughly before storage. Avoid aggressive chemicals for cleaning. Use mild soap and fresh water. Check Valve Securement Use the valve-spanner to tighten the valve, if it works loose or in the case of hoving to remove and inspect or replace. Check periodically. REPAIRING SMALL PUNCTURES Check that the board is fully deflated and lies flat. Using the repair kit supplied: 1. Prepare a round patch no less than 3" (7cm) in diameter. 2. Clean the patch and area surrounding the leak with alcohol. 3. Apply thin, even coat to both the surface of board and patch. Wait 5 mins. 4. Apply a 2nd coat to both surfaces. Wait 5 minutes 5. Use a hand roller to apply patch evenly and pay special attention to the edges to ensure a quality seal. 6. Wait 24 hours before re-inflating. Perform all of your repairs in a well-ventilated area and avoid inhaling toxic vapours. Avoid contact with the skin or the eyes. Keep all repair materials (glue, solvents, etc.) away from the reach of children. The repairs on the welds must not be glued. Only the manufacturer of the board can perform repairs on the glued seams themselves, our trained professional, skilled in PVC seam repairs. HARDBOARDS Our hardboards are made from the highest standards laminated from a mix of cloth including carbon, innegra, fibreglass and kevlar and always with epoxy resins. The internal core uses EPS foam in differing densities. REPAIRS Always use epoxy resin. Seek professional repair if not confident. If the outer skin is compromised, ensure the board remains out of the water to prevent water uptake. Allow to dry completely before undertaking any repairs. BOARD BAG Use a board bag to prevent out of water damage STORAGE Store out of strong sunlight and preferably indoors.
